The design project for the monumental staircase in the lobby of an IT company's headquarter in Angers France, embodies a subtle balance between functional architecture and sculptural art.
This unique staircase, crafted by BUFFL, is meant to be more than just a passage. It draws inspiration from the graceful, natural movement of a wave, symbolizing both dynamism and poetry.
The wooden vertebrae, noble and living materials, form the core structure of the staircase. They are arranged in a parametric flow, creating fluidity and visual continuity reminiscent of the constant motion of water. Each curve mimics the flow of a wave.
An integrated bench extends this interaction, offering visitors a place to pause and rest. Seamlessly incorporated into the staircase's design, the bench reinforces the idea of a wave that not only sweeps but also envelops and welcomes.
At its heart, this staircase becomes the focal point of the lobby, a whirlwind of energy and beauty that draws attention and enlivens the space, turning a simple ascent into a true sensory experience.
